This is the Roman amphitheatre at Bodrum, Turkey. It dates from 4th Century BC - the times of Aristotle, Socrates and Plato.

Speakers and actors would project their voice to an audience of about 4,000 people without any sort of sound system. Of course, it has excellent acoustics designed in.

It demonstrates that the art of oratory, or public speaking, has been around a long time.

Of course, I couldn't resist having a shot on the proscenium (stage)

Would you like to learn some 21st-Century public speaking skills, on a fully-funded 1/2 day in-person workshop, brought to you by Business Gateway?

It's on the morning of 18 June, in Glenrothes.
